Von bescheidenen Anfängen zu einem wachsenden Erbe – unser Weg spiegelt kontinuierliche Verbesserung, Hingabe und über die Zeit aufgebautes Vertrauen wider.
A journey that began in 1902 in Asnæs Stationsby with Aage Holger Rasmussen and later his brother Hans Frederik Ejnar Rasmussen. From humble beginnings and strong work ethic, it grew into an international company known for high-quality workwear built on trust and craftsmanship.
Brothers from Asnæs Stationsby founded a rainwear and workwear company in 1935, inspired by rubberized textiles, focusing on durability, quality, and Viking strength.
The growing workwear factory moved to Charlottenlund in the 1930s, expanding production and reaching around 25 employees while building a strong reputation for quality rainwear and workwear.
In 1965, Aage Holger became the sole owner of the company and moved production to Faaborg on Sydfyn, a region known for its strong fishing heritage. After his passing in 1972, the company was continued by widow Rasmussen and their son.
In 1976, sailor and businessman Svend Aage Andersen discovered the rainwear factory in Faaborg and immediately saw its potential. Believing the company could become something much bigger, he purchased the business and took over its future.
In 1984, Svend Aage Andersen handed the company over to his 23-year-old son, Kurt Mikael Andersen. Kurt expanded the business into breathable workwear products, leading the company into a new era of growth with a skilled team of around 40 employees.
Production shifted to Poland in 1991, and by 1993 supplied all key markets. After slow sales in Denmark, Kurt went to Germany and secured a 100-jacket order in Hamburg—making Germany the company’s strongest market.
Viking Rubber Co. developed specialized safety workwear for Hamburg ports with HHLA and Eurogate, focusing on safety, function, and durability.
Production moved to Vietnam for cost efficiency and better working conditions, making Viking Rubber Co. one of the first European companies to establish production there.
Production in Vietnam expanded into larger facilities by 2006, and by 2008 it was further scaled to 6,000 m² to meet rising demand. The site also began producing hunting and leisure clothing for other brands.
Viking Vietnam Ltd. achieved ISO 9001 certification, confirming consistent quality standards and reinforcing the company’s long-standing focus on durable, high-quality workwear production.
Viking Vietnam Ltd. achieved SA 8000 certification in 2013, reflecting the company’s commitment to safe working conditions and responsible production in Vietnam.
Viking Vietnam Ltd. achieved ISO 14001 certification in 2016, reflecting its commitment to environmental responsibility and reducing the factory’s impact on the local community.
In 2021, Viking Rubber Co. entered its third generation of leadership, with Alexander Mygind Andersen becoming majority owner, while Kurt M. Andersen continued as Chairman of the Board.
